Tonsillitis is a contagious condition, causing inflamed tonsils, fever, painful swallowing, sore throat, and altered voice. Commonly accompanied by a white/yellow coating on the tonsils, swollen lymph nodes, headache, bad breath, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain (in younger children). Often also accompanied by throat infection (pharyngitis).
